Multi-lamellar emulsion, aka MLE, is what built the ATOPALM brand. If you’ve been an ATOPALM user for a while, you are deeply familiar with this revolutionary ingredient, but if you’re new to ATOPALM, it requires a little explanation.
Multi-Lamellar Emulsion (MLE) is a scientifically advanced recreation of your skin’s natural Maltese Cross molecule structure. Under a microscope, the natural skin barrier and MLE are identical in both appearance and function.
By reproducing this cellular structure and formulating superior skin care products to introduce it deep into the layers of skin, the damaged Maltese Cross molecules can be repaired and strengthened, healing the skin from deep within.
Multi-Lamellar Emulsion was created for ATOPALM by our founder, Dr. Park, who developed the ingredient to care for the eczema-prone skin of his children. MLE is known worldwide for being capable of dealing with extreme skin concerns while being gentle enough to use on any skin type at any age. It is a one-of-a-kind ingredient.
Both products feature:
- Multi-lamellar emulsion to repair and reinforce the skin’s natural lipid layer
- Ceramide-9S to moisturize skin and replace lost ceramides within skin cells
- Allantoin to calm discomfort
- Hyaluronic acid to replace and maintain the skin’s hydration levels
- Safflower, grape seed, sunflower, and jojoba oils to nourish and further hydrate skin
- Green tea-derived antioxidants to neutralize and prevent free radical damage
So what’s the difference? Texture! MLE Cream is a richer, creamier product designed for normal to dry skin types, or those who prefer a more enveloping feel when they apply a moisturizer. It is also the more popular choice for fall and winter months.
MLE Lotion is lighter and milkier, making it a great choice for those with normal to oily skin types, or those who don’t want their application experience to feel too heavy for their preferences. As you may have guessed, this texture is more popular in spring and summer months.
In addition to being easily accepted by all skin types, these two MLE formulas may be used anywhere on the face and body, making them a versatile product to keep on hand.
They’re also perfect for mixing and matching depending on your skin’s needs—maybe you prefer a lighter face moisturizer and use MLE Lotion for your complexion, while your elbows and knees need the rich texture of MLE Cream.
We are so excited to offer these two new products and hope that you love them as much as we do!
