Korean Skin Care Regimen Step-by-Step Guide, Step Seven: Moisturizing

This is step seven of our Korean skin care regimen series! If you missed the first six, you can read step one hereread step two hereread step three hereread step four here, read step five here, and read step six here.

It will come as no surprise to you that step seven of the ATOPALM Korean skin care regimen is the star of our unique program: moisturizing. As the #1 best-selling dry skin care in Korea, restoring moisture to the skin is our passion — and our forte.

When it comes to restoring and protecting moisture levels within the skin, you will find no better skin care brand than ATOPALM. Our revolutionary and proprietary ingredient multi-lamellar emulsion (MLE) ensures the restoration and support of the skin’s own lipid layer, which naturally keeps skin healthfully hydrated.

MLE is identical to the skin’s natural cross-structure. In fact, when viewed under a microscope, there is no visible different between MLE and the Maltese Cross naturally found in skin.

After you’ve completed the rest of your Korean skin care regimen, moisturizing is the second-to-last step before you’re ready to head out the door or go off to bed. It is the #1 way to protect your skin against damage during the day, and help your skin heal itself at night.

Without proper moisture levels, your skin will spend all its time trying to balance moisture instead of tending to issues like breakouts and damage that leads to premature visible signs of aging. By using a moisturizer that truly helps the skin balance its own moisture levels, you free up the body to heal and protect itself.

When selecting a daily moisturizer, it’s important to pick one that addresses your skin’s unique needs. While hydration should be the main concern for all skin types (yes, even oily skin), your formula can also contain ingredients meant for specific issues. Sometimes those ingredients may be even more hydrating ingredients, while others may offer anti-aging or acne-healing properties.

Once you have your moisturizer chosen, you will want to apply it morning and evening. Some people choose to have a lighter daytime formula and heavier nighttime formula, while others will use the same cream for both. The choice is left up to preference!

Applying your  moisturizer should be gentle yet thorough. The true Korean skin care method of application is to gently tap the cream into your skin, never rubbing or pulling the skin in order to avoid damaging delicate skin cells. You can apply “dots” of cream all over the face, and then take a few minutes to tap or pat the cream in until it’s mostly absorbed.

After application, your skin should never feel sticky or laden with too much cream; rather, it should feel refreshed and pampered. What makes K-beauty regimens so special is the time taken to truly care for the skin. If you are following this principal, you will surely feel the difference.

Acne Care for Dry Skin

Source: flickr.com user SnapShotChaos

If you have dry, acne-prone skin, you know how hard it is to find a cream to address all your concerns at once. Most people associate acne blemishes with oily skin, but the truth is that many dry conditions (such as rosacea) can cause acne breakouts, leaving skin both dry and broken out.

Why does dry skin break out?
The answer to this varies. In short, you can get an acne blemish any time a hair follicle becomes clogged. In oily skin, the clog is usually caused by excess oil. But the follicles can also be clogged by cosmetic products, dirt, bacteria, and dead skin cells — the last being the major cause of acne in dry skin.

If you have dry skin, it’s often flaky and rough. There are dead skin cells galore that refuse to slough off, so instead they clog follicles, leading to breakouts. Dry skin may also try to overcompensate for its dryness by actually overproducing oil, further leading to clogs when those dead skin cells keep oil trapped.

Lastly, conditions associated with dryness, such as rosacea, come with their own forms of pimples which operate similarly to acne blemishes, though they’re not identical. Treatment for rosacea blemishes may differ from traditional acne treatments; however, when it comes to ATOPALM’s secret weapon against blemishes, you only need one product whether you’re dealing with acne or rosacea.

How do I treat pimples in dry skin?
Many popular acne treatments can be harsh and over-drying to the skin, simply because they’re meant for oily, traditionally acne-prone skin. Top acne products often contain benzoyl peroxide, an ingredient which can irritate any skin type, but positively wreak havoc on dry, sensitive skin.

Rather than exposing dry skin to overly stripping acne products, it’s important to find a formulation which will treat the blemishes without upsetting surrounding skin. In this way, you can reduce the appearance of pimples and help them heal without undoing the work of your other skin care products.

What’s the best spot treatment for dry acne-prone skin?
Call us biased if you want, but the truth is still the truth: ATOPALM Cicarelief Cream is our #1 best-selling product for acne. Not only that, but it’s an excellent blemish treatment whether your skin is dry or not! It can be used on acne blemishes as well as rosacea blemishes, and anything in between.

The unique benefits of Cicarelief Cream come from the combination of ATOPALM MLE and calamine. These two ingredients target blemishes from a healing standpoint, as well as a soothing standpoint. MLE repairs and supports skin health while calamine reduces inflammation, redness, and irritation. The result is skin that both looks and feels better while it’s actually being healed — not just covered or dried up.

Try Cicarelief Cream when you order the Real Barrier Cica Cream Kit. You’ll find a full size bottle of Cicarelief Cream, as well as mid-size versions of Extreme Cream Mask and Eye Contour Cream, all at a special discounted price.

Dealing With Eczema in Fall and Winter

Source: flickr.com user Katharine Shields

Eczema flare-ups can happen any time of year, but fall and winter throw some extra eczema triggers into the mix. If you’re struggling with keeping your skin calm and comfortable as the weather cools, follow these helpful tips for restoring health to your eczema-prone skin.

Turn Down the Temp
Indoor heating and hot water can both trigger eczema flare-ups. These sources of heat over-dry the skin and can make the itching, burning, and dryness of eczema much worse.

Instead of bathing in hot water, turn the temperature down to a more tepid level. Similarly, instead of heating your house to comfort, opt for heavier clothing and blankets instead. These tips will also cut down on utilities costs during the fall and winter seasons!

Stay Hydrated
It’s easy to meet your water intake goals during spring and summer when the heat serves as a reminder, but it’s just as important to stay hydrated during cooler months — especially for those with dry skin and conditions like eczema.

Remember to get at least 64-ounces of water per day. It’s true that other liquids like tea, milk, juice, etc. can count toward fluid intake goals, but nothing does the trick for your body and skin just like pure H2O.

Moisturize When You Brush
If you’re the type to moisturize only after bathing, it’s time to change those habits. A good way to remember to moisturize eczema-prone skin is to apply your skin care moisturizer when you brush your teeth every morning and evening.

By focusing on moisturizing skin with ATOPALM at least twice a day, you’ll be ensuring that your skin has continuous protection against over-drying while MLE actually works to heal the skin itself. It’s like applying a full-service crew to your skin, and you don’t want to miss a shift!

Following these very easy steps will go a long way toward keeping eczema-prone skin happy and healthy all season long.

Korean Skin Care Regimen Step-by-Step Guide, Step Six: Eye Care

This is step six of our Korean skin care regimen series! If you missed the first five, you can read step one hereread step two hereread step three hereread step four here, and read step five here.

Eye skin care  is one of the most important steps of any regimen, but it’s also one of the most skipped steps! Many people assume that eye care is unnecessary, or that they can simply use their normal face cream on their eye area as well.

The fact is, the eye area is one of the most delicate areas of skin on the entire body. This means that the eye area is usually one of the first places to show visible signs of aging and damage. The delicate tissue also means that it’s important to use the right skin care designed especially for the eye area in order to avoid irritation or damage.

Although ATOPALM skin care is already formulated with sensitive and compromised skin in mind, our eye care takes those ideas a step further. Our face creams won’t irritate your eye area, but you’ll be missing out on the targeted care our eye formulas provide.

ATOPALM offers two eye skin care products, each providing unique benefits so users can choose which product meets their needs best.

Our classic MLE line includes Moisturizing Eye Repair Serum, a lightweight yet rich serum-cream created to target visible signs of aging. MLE repairs the skin’s lipid layer while K6PC5 (an activator) works to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamin E and licorice root further work to brighten, condition, and protect skin. Clinical studies show a reduction in fine lines, crow’s feet, and wrinkles throughout the eye area.

ATOPALM Real Barrier also offers its own eye care product. Eye Contour Cream contains a peptide to increase skin elasticity, which is a trademark of youthful skin. Hyaluronic acid combines with MLE to deeply hydrate and repair skin, all while the Real Barrier 3-Calming Complex soothes and calms irritated skin.

Once you’ve chosen the right eye skin care product for you, it’s time to apply it with the gentleness and care that K-Beauty is known for. Follow your product’s packaging directions to dispense the proper amount of product onto one of your ring fingers. Dab your other ring finger into the cream so that it’s distributed evenly between your fingers.

Now lightly tap — do not rub — the product onto the eye area, following the natural curvature of your under-eye area. Begin under the inner corners of the eyes, and gently tap in an outward motion, circling all the way up to the end of your eyebrow. After the product has been tapped in, let it set for a minute to properly absorb.

By applying your eye care properly, you’ll avoid the rubbing and tugging that can deeply damage the delicate skin, leading to the visible signs of aging you’re trying to avoid!

Best Skin Care for Irritated Skin

Even if you don’t normally have sensitive skin, chances are you’ve had a handful of times in your life when your skin has become irritated. Maybe during an illness, or after using a new skin care product that was poorly formulated. Other common causes of short-term irritation can be in-office skin procedures, or exposure to irritants like poison oak and ivy.

Regardless of the cause, Cicarelief Cream is here for you. Cicarelief Cream is a deeply healing and reparative cream formulated especially for compromised skin in need of special care. It uses MLE, panthenol, calamine, and madecassoside to soothe and promote healing in skin that has been damaged or irritated. It can be used after sunburn, reactions to natural irritants, or simply when your skin feels less than healthy.

For those who experience extreme sensitivity on a regular basis, Cicarelief Cream can be used more often to keep skin in a healthier and more comfortable state. Use it instead of your normal ATOPALM cream or, in the most extreme cases, in addition to your daily cream. The calamine and panthenol go that extra mile to soothe irritation and restore health.

Last but certainly not least, Cicarelief Cream makes an excellent acne breakout treatment! The soothing ingredients help reduce redness and inflammation while ATOPALM MLE goes to work on repairing the skin barrier. Use it as an acne spot treatment, or on larger areas of the face if you are very acne-prone.

Try Cicarelief Cream today when you purchase the Cicarelief Cream Kit! Offered at a special low price, it features a full-size Cicarelief Cream, as well as mid-size versions of Extreme Cream Mask, Intense Moisture Cream, and Eye Contour Cream. Cicarelief Cream Kit is the perfect way to experience many new ATOPALM products at once, and give your skin the gift of health through ATOPALM Real Barrier.

How Dry Skin Ages You

The woes of dry skin are well-known: flaking, itching, burning, peeling. It’s an uncomfortable affliction that plagues many, yet there’s one effect of dry skin that isn’t often talked about — how dry skin causes skin to look older than it should.

Dry and aging skin are one in the same. If your skin is dry, you lose the plumpness of youth. Fine lines and wrinkles appear sooner and are more defined. Crow’s feet around the eyes and creases around the mouth arrive far before their time. Combined with the redness and rough skin texture of dry skin, and you’re left with a complexion deprived of its natural, healthy beauty and the comfort you deserve.

The good news is that by targeting the root cause of premature signs of skin aging — dry skin — you can reduce the appearance of visible signs of aging, and even prevent new ones from appearing. By restoring the skin’s moisture levels and lipid layer, you’ll also be restoring a youthful appearance to your face.

ATOPALM MLE accomplishes this flawlessly. By focusing on restoring the skin’s natural lipid layer, your putting the power of healthy skin back into the care and control of the skin itself. Think of MLE like arming your skin against discomfort, damage, and premature signs of skin aging.

Because MLE perfectly mimics the skin’s own lipid layer, the skin readily accepts its help and begins to function normally again. Moisture levels become balanced, and damage from environmental factors is less likely to occur.

As moisture levels rise, skin plumpness is restored and fine lines and wrinkles appear filled from the inside out. Skin is smoother, more radiant, and healthier. Last but not least, comfort is returned to the skin — itching, flaking, and stinging are banished.

The use of MLE products by ATOPALM is the #1 way to restore balance to the skin and target visible signs of aging caused by dryness. Try ATOPALM today and see the difference for yourself.

Fall in Love with Atopalm Skin Care for Fall

It’s finally happening! Fall has returned! Well, technically fall begins in two days, but who’s counting? I’m not sure if you can tell or not, but fall is pretty exciting to me. You’d be excited, too, if your summer temps hovered around 105 degrees! Who cares about pumpkin spice anything? Just give me a hoodie!

Another thing I love about fall is changing up my skin care routine. We all know how even a little change in the day-to-day makes everything feel new and easier. Well, now’s your chance to give yourself a break from the mundane and switch over to your fall skin care regimen!

How should a skin care regimen change with the seasons? It’s not about finding new formulas (though some may choose to switch) but more about what you spend your time focusing on. Here’s a look at how a summer skin care routine should change with the shift into fall.

Less lotion, more cream. For many people, cooler weather means heavier skin care moisturizers. This is especially true for those with dry skin who need extra help in fall and winter, thanks to harsher weather and central heating.

If you usually use a face lotion, which is generally lighter weight than a cream, it might be a good time to switch. For very dry skin or sensitive skin, I recommend our Intensive Moisturizing Cream. It is rich enough for even extremely dry skin, and can even be used on dry areas like the knees and elbows.

If you have normal or oily skin, our Daytime Undermakeup Moisture Cream is a great choice. It still provides great hydration with our patented MLE, but won’t feel quite as heavy as Intensive Moisturizing Cream. As the name suggests, it’s also ideal for use under makeup!

Less hot water, more body lotionIn the cooler months, it may be tempting to warm up by using hot water when you bathe or wash your hands. However, this is very damaging to dry skin and can significantly increase discomfort and dryness. The hot water strips away protective oils (which dry skin lacks to begin with), leaving the skin feeling raw.

Instead, wash and bathe in tepid water, and always follow-up with a moisturizer. Our Moisturizing Body Lotion is a lifesaver when it comes to caring for skin from the neck down. Use it after bathing to lock in moisture for all-day comfort.

Less makeup, more moisture application. In summer, even dry skin can typically get by with just a morning and evening application of face moisturizer. In colder months, though, it’s strongly recommended that you re-apply light layers of moisturizer throughout the day, or whenever skin feels parched.

The best way to accomplish this without completely ruining your makeup is to apply a light layer of makeup and use our Moisture Mist throughout the day. This way, you’re not applying face cream overtop your carefully applied makeup, and your makeup isn’t getting in the way of your moisturizer!

As you can see, updating your skin care routine to reflect the changing seasons doesn’t have to be an ordeal, and can lead to a fun new system. Just tweak a couple products, and you’ll have the perfect plan for achieving beautiful, happy skin.

Korean Skin Care Regimen Step-by-Step Guide, Step Five: Masks

This is step five of our Korean skin care regimen series! If you missed the first four, you can read step one here, read step two hereread step three here, and read step four here.

You may wonder how step five of ATOPALM’s Korean skin care regimen could be masks since ATOPALM.com doesn’t feature any face masks! While K-beauty flew to popularity with the use of sheet masks, that’s one arena that ATOPALM USA hasn’t joined.

Why? Because our skin care creams make such excellent face masks on their own! Since we know that ATOPALM creams can double as face masks, we believe that our customers should get to stick to the formulas they love, and not worry about adding more products to their skin care routine.

One thing to note is that, while K-beauty masks are listed as step five of the ATOPALM Korean skin care regimen, this does not mean that you should use a face mask cream as your fourth step every day. Rather, incorporate this deep moisturizing process once or twice a week, preferably in the evening.

If you’re looking forward to using your favorite ATOPALM cream as a face mask, but you’re not sure where to begin, read on to learn how to apply ATOPALM cream as a face mask.

Step one: choose a cream. Any ATOPALM cream can technically be used as a face mask, but we do have a couple of recommendations based on the various ingredients and formula concentrations we offer on ATOPALM.com.

For example, Intensive Moisturizing Cream is our best-selling moisturizer and can be used as a face mask, but you may see more noticeable results when using one of our Real Barrier formulas, due to the presence of the Real Barrier three-calming complex. Likewise, extremely dry or sensitive skin types may prefer to use an ATOPALM 130+ formula as their face mask to give their skin an intense dose of moisture and comfort.

Step two: begin your skin care process, with step one, step two, step three, and step four of the ATOPALM Korean skin care regimen. When you get to step five (normally Moisturize), move instead into the face mask application process. Note that step four is Treatment, but does include some of our face creams that can be used for treatment purposes. If your mask cream of choice is one of these treatment products, you can apply your mask as step four of the regimen.

Step three: apply as a mask. Instead of gently patting your cream into your skin, apply a thicker-than-normal layer and allow it to sink in gradually. This allows the cream to begin moisturizing immediately, but also to “drink in” the formula naturally, resulting in a more natural moisturization process. It also gives the formula’s active ingredients time to begin working on the surface of the skin before penetrating deeper to repair and replenish from the inside out.

You will be amazed at the difference this application process makes, even if you’re using your normal daily moisturizer as a mask! If you try this special face mask application, please leave us a comment below to let us know your thoughts!

Korean Skin Care Regimen Step-by-Step Guide, Step Four: Treatment

This is step four of our Korean skin care regimen series! If you missed the first three, you can read step one here, read step two here, and read step three here.

This step focuses on targeted skin care treatments. Consider step four your way to diversify your skin care regimen and pay attention to your biggest skin care concerns.

One thing to remember is that the K-Beauty regimen puts a lot of emphasis on truly caring for the skin, not just with the right products, but with how you touch and manipulate your skin. All of your products should be gently applied, with more of a tapping or massaging motion than a rough rubbing motion, and treatments are no exception.

Since the treatment step is your chance to focus on your skin care concern, here are a few ATOPALM products that can be used depending on what you’re concerns are. You can use as many or few as you like, as all ATOPALM products are designed to work together without stressing the skin.

Concern: Aging Skin
Product: Moisturizing Skin Revitalizing Complex

Formulated with peptides, vitamin C, and an anti-aging skin care activator known as K6PC5, Moisturizing Skin Revitalizing Complex is all you need to fight fine lines, wrinkles, dullness, and other visible signs of aging. It of course also features MLE to further hydrate skin, which adds an extra boost of anti-aging action as it allows skin to maintain a youthful plumpness and suppleness.

Concern: Extreme Dryness and Sensitivity
Product: ATOPALM 130+ Concentrated Intensive Facial Moisturizer with Panthenol

While all ATOPALM products are created with moisture and the skin’s lipid barrier in mind, ATOPALM 130+ is specially formulated for extremely dry, sensitive, and compromised skin types. Formulated with 30% more active ingredients, ATOPALM 130+ features our richest, most replenishing products. Concentrated Intensive Facial Moisturizer with Panthenol takes this a step further with its star ingredient —you guessed it — panthenol, which is well-known for its deep soothing abilities.

Concern: Externally Irritated and Acne-Prone Skin
Product: Real Barrier Cicarelief Cream

One of our newest products is also one of our best treatments for acne blemishes, as well as skin that’s been irritated by external aggressors, like poison oak and ivy. These traits also make it an excellent treatment for use after minor dermatological procedures. Alongside MLE, Cicarelief Cream uses calamine to deeply soothe irritation including redness, itching, and stinging. But the treatment doesn’t stop there! Cicarelief also features panthenol and madecassoside to continue comforting skin long after its been applied.

Concern: Getting the Most from Your Skin Care
Product: Real Barrier Intro Serum

If you don’t have a specific skin care concern, Intro Serum is for you! Think of it as a skin care booster — it actually maximizes the benefits you get from every other ATOPALM product. It can be used alongside any of the previously mentioned treatments, or as your one and only Korean skin care regimen treatment.

K-Beauty Review: Real Barrier Intro Serum

Take the first step to anti-aging with the Real Barrier Intro Serum! It’s gentle and moisturizing.

I think a lot of people including myself are changing their skin care products to anti-aging lines after new year..

A lot of people think that there are only creams and serums in anti-aging products. Of course, I thought the same.

However, this product made me change that way of thinking.

Even when you use all the great anti-aging products, the key is to take care of the skin barrier while applying all those products!

The foundation of anti-aging starts with a healthy and strong skin barrier.

Aging starts when the skin barrier is not properly protected. So, it’s no use just applying good products.

The consistency is slightly heavy for a product used as the first step in a skin care routine.

However, that doesn’t mean it is dense and sticky.

A lot of the products I’ve used as the first step in my skin care regimen had a runny, watery consistency like a toner.

But the Real Barrier Serum does not drip off from your hand quickly even when you raise your hand after putting a dab on it.

I tried the Intro Serum as the first step to my skin care routine every morning.

It felt different than when I tested the resum on the back of my hand.

I could feel the moisture penetrating underneath my skin barrier.

Even after it was completely absorbed, I could still feel the moisturizing effect.

Most of the products I used in the first step of my skin care routine did not feel very moisturizing, but Intro Serum leaves the skin feeling moisturized after the very first step.

I was first surprised by the feeling of application!

And I was surprised the second time again by the moisturizing feeling after complete absorption.

The product leaves a nice finish without any stickiness or glossy look, so I changed my first step of skin care routine to Intro Serum. 😊

There are a lot of anti-aging products out on the market, but the first step to anti-aging is maintaining a good moisture balance in your skin barrier.

I plan on taking care of the moisture balance in my skin barrier before worrying about wrinkles and brightening skin care.
