Korean Skin Care Regimen Step-by-Step Guide, Step Three: Essence

This is step three of our 10-step Korean skin care regimen series! If you missed the first two, you can read step one here, and read step two here.

When most people think of Korean skin care, they think of Essence. Essence began as a skin care step unique to K-Beauty. Now, many other beauty routines include Essence, but it will always be an essential step in the Korean skin care regimen!

Essence is a toner/serum hybrid that is applied after cleansing, but before any skin care treatments. It’s made to add an extra layer of hydration to the skin while supporting healthy cell function.

ATOPALM Real Barrier Essence Mist takes this practice to a whole new level. It provides 24 hours of hydration with a dual-action formula that also nourishes and soothes dry skin. The convenient spray-on design allows you to refresh skin anytime, anywhere.

In addition to ATOPALM MLE, Essence Mist uses hyaluronic acid to attract moisture to the skin, while Real Barrier three-calming complex uses panthenol, madecassoside, and allantoin to instantly and deeply comfort dry, irritated skin.

Essence Mist is proven to be non-irritating, and is free of 10 of the most common skin-irritating compounds. It is also clinically proven to hydrate for 24 hours, promising lasting moisture that keeps skin healthy and comfortable.

The Essence step is one of the things that put Korean skin care on the map. ATOPALM Real Barrier Essence Mist will ensure that K-Beauty stays on the map.

After Sun Skin Care Tips for Dry and Sensitive Skin

For many people, dry skin ends as soon as winter does! Dry skin during summer is less common than during winter, but for true dry skin sufferers, summer can bring with it a whole new slew of dry and sensitive skin issues.

But there is hope! Here are our tips for keeping your dry, sensitive skin healthy and comfortable all summer long.

Keep it Cool
Staying cool is essential for all sensitive skin sufferers, but especially for those with rosacea. Remaining indoors or in the shade will keep skin cooler and help prevent excess redness and flushing. It also helps prevent sweating, which can further irritate skin.

If you live in an area that gets very hot during summer, staying cool might be tricky, but it is possible. The obvious first suggestion is to stay indoors or at least in covered, shady areas. If that’s not possible, wear a wide-brimmed hat to protect your skin from direct sunlight, or use a parasol to keep skin shaded. As a last defense, spritz your skin with water throughout the day to cool its surface temperature, or take a quick dip in the pool to reduce your core body temperature. (Just remember to shower and moisturize after!)

Keep it Clean
As previously mentioned, sweat can irritate sensitive skin. Sweat on its own is not an irritant; however, for sensitive skin, sweat can lead to itching and discomfort as it dries. This can leave skin feeling worn, tight, and tired.

The simplest way to prevent sweat-caused irritation is to stay clean. After exercising or spending time in the sun, bathe if you can, or use a wet washcloth to very gently remove excess sweat and cool the skin’s surface. This way, you’ll fully avoid the discomfort and irritation caused by sweat drying on your skin.

Keep it Moisturized
Moisturizing during summer doesn’t provide the same satisfaction as it does during winter. If you’re already hot, your moisturizing cream may feel heavy or cloying. If you head outside immediately after you finish your skin care routine, you may start to sweat through your products.

However, keeping skin moisturized during summer is an absolute must. It allows the skin to maintain its healthy functions, giving it the ability to better protect itself against sun damage. Think of moisturizing like giving the skin the tools it needs to perform its best. Plus, your skin will look and feel healthier, too!

Moisture Mist is a fast and easy way to deliver rich moisture to the skin without feeling too heavy. It’s perfect for extremely dry skin types that need a pick-me-up midday, or for any other skin type after it’s lost moisture from summer play. It makes a great post-shave treatment, after sun soother, skin refresher and more. It makes summer moisturizing a breeze!

By following these simple tips, you’ll be able to enjoy the healthier, more comfortable skin all summer long.

Korean Skin Care Regimen Step-by-Step Guide, Step Two: Cleansing

This is step two of our Korean skin care regimen series! If you missed step one, don’t miss it! Click here to read about ATOPALM Cleansing Water!

Step two of the ATOPALM K-Beauty skin care regimen is cleansing. If you’re wondering why it’s not step one, then you haven’t read about Cleansing Water yet!

When you’re ready to cleanse, ATOPALM has two cleansing options for you: Moisturizing Facial Cleansing Foam from the classic MLE line, and Real Barrier Cleansing Foam. They both offer a rich, velvety cleansing texture with MLE, but each gives you a unique spin with specialized ingredients.

Moisturizing Facial Cleansing Foam relies on purity and simplicity. Featuring only the gentlest cleansing ingredients, Moisturizing Facial Cleansing Foam removes impurities, debris, and makeup with a lush foaming texture that soothes the instant it touches your skin.

Moisturizing Facial Cleansing Foam is a favorite of those with ultra sensitive skin who want their cleanser to focus on one job and one job only: to cleanse. After use, the skin feels soft, and already embraced by a light layer of moisture.

Real Barrier Cleansing Foam offers calming and soothing actions in a different way. Instead of relying on a simple, pure formula to keep from irritating skin, Real Barrier Cleansing Foam utilizes botanical ingredients to calm and comfort dry, sensitive skin.

An incredible formula of panthenol, allantoin, madecassoside, sunflower seed oil, broccoli sprout extract, wheat sprout extract, bergamot fruit oil, and of course MLE works to beautifully wrap the skin in nourishment and comfort. A natural oil-based fragrance delights the senses, and the product’s rich texture wraps skin in foundation of moisture.

In K-Beauty, the way you cleanse is almost as important as the product you choose. Korean beauty regimens are based on respecting and truly loving your skin, and this extends to the force you imply when applying your Korean skin care products.

When cleansing, apply a pump of your foam to your hand and begin to very gently rub it over your face in circular motions. View it more as a light facial massage, rather than a scrubbing marathon. Rinse under comfortably cool water, and pat — never rub — dry.

Have you tried both ATOPALM cleansers? Which is your favorite? Leave a comment to let us know!

Best Summer Skin Care Products

Keeping skin safe in summer shouldn’t be a hassle! Don’t let summer skin care feel like a chore; simply keep it healthy and comfortable with ATOPALM.

All skin needs specialized care during summer, but dry and sensitive skin types are very prone to sun damage. Dry skin can become even drier with prolonged sun exposure, plus pool chlorine and salt water can also demolish what little moisture your dry skin was able to hold onto!

When it comes to sensitive skin, sun exposure, chlorine, and salt water also cause issues, but these issues are often even more extreme than what dry skin deals with. Sensitive skin conditions like rosacea are worsened by heat alone, and simply become worse with direct sun and water exposure. Then there are those conditions linked directly to sun exposure, like polymorphous light eruption, which is an allergic reaction to the sun!

But here’s some great news: most summertime dry skin conditions and sensitive skin issues can be addressed with ATOPALM products! All ATOPALM products can be used year-round, but some formulas in particular are fantastic for preventing and calming summer skin care concerns. Here’s a look at just a few:

ATOPALM Moisture Mist is a versatile, spray-on moisturizer. It’s a must-have for use immediately after sun exposure and swimming to replenish moisture and keep skin comfortable. It also gives your skin a burst of radiance without the health risks of tanning!

ATOPALM Daytime Undermakeup Moisture Cream is a lightweight MLE moisturizer and makeup primer in one. It’s great for use as a lighter summertime moisturizer for normal to oily skin, or layered over another ATOPALM moisturizer for drier, more sensitive skin types.

ATOPALM Real Barrier Cleansing Water
offers travel-friendly, water-free cleansing you can use anytime, anywhere. A must-have for camping and weekend getaways!

ATOPALM 130+ Concentrated Intensive Facial Moisturizer with Panthenol is a rich moisturizer created with extremely dry, sensitive skin types. While most people prefer lighter moisture in summer, ultra sensitive skin still needs extra protection and moisture to remain comfortable. The added benefit of panthenol also makes this cream perfect for use on mild to moderate irritation caused by environmental elements.

Adding any of these sensitive skin care products to your daily summer skin care routine will go a long way toward keeping skin looking and feeling healthy all summer long.

Why the Eye Area Ages First

Have you ever noticed that most people start getting fine lines and wrinkles around their eyes before anywhere else? If you haven’t noticed already, you won’t be able to miss it now!

The fact is, the eye area shows visible signs of aging before any other spot on the face, and sometimes even the body! (Some are prone to sun spots on their hands early on as well.) The reasons for these premature visible signs of aging are simple: fragility, damage, and lack of moisture.

The skin around the eyes is especially thin and delicate, which makes it more likely to become damaged. On top of that, the eye area experiences a lot of damage! It takes sun damage, physical damage (rubbed your eyes lately?), and, for many people, damage from harsh makeup products being applied and removed on a daily basis. Finally, this thin skin has fewer sebaceous glands, leading to lower moisture levels.

When you look at it that way, it makes sense that the eye area often has dark circles, puffiness or bags, fine lines, crow’s feet, and wrinkles.

Second only to the eye area, the area surrounding the mouth ages earlier for the exact same reasons. People normally see changes to their eye area, and then notice visible signs of aging in the mouth area a few months later.

The fact that these two areas of the face show signs of aging first has led skin care experts to create a new way to describe them: the triangle zone.

As shown in the illustration above, within the large triangle zone are smaller triangle zones in need of extra care. If you’re not sure whether or not your triangle zones need more extreme skin care, ask yourself if the following statements are true for you:

When it comes time to focus on the triangle zones, Atopalm has made it as easy as possible to do so by offering two eye care products that can also be used around the mouth. These multi-tasking formulas provide exceptional anti-aging skin care while remaining as gentle and moisturizing as the other Atopalm products.

Korean Skin Care Regimen Step-by-Step Guide, Step One: Pre-Cleansing

The Korean skin care routine has taken the world by storm, and there’s no going back once you’ve tried it! It is a truly a superior way to care for your skin. You can see and feel the difference when you take a little more time to do what’s right!

Some people find the K-Beauty skin care regimen overwhelming at first, so we’ll be featuring a step-by-step guide over the coming weeks to explain how and why each step matters.

Let’s get things started with step one: Real Barrier Cleansing Water.

Cleansing Water is Atopalm’s version of an oil-based cleanser. It is a cleansing formula designed to be used without the use of tap water, which makes it excellent for very sensitive skin that doesn’t respond well to harsh tap waters.

Cleansing Water actually uses Atopalm’s MLE skin-barrier formula to cleanse skin, while a natural moisturizing compound replenishes moisture even as you cleanse! Panthenol, allantoin, and madecassoside make up Real Barrier’s three-calming complex, used to soothe and comfort skin.

Cleansing Water melts away impurities and debris, preparing skin for the rest of your skin care routine. It can also be used in the evening prior to your foaming cleanser to gently remove makeup without the use of harsh makeup removing formulas.

Finally, if your skin is of the most sensitive variety, you can use Cleansing Water in lieu of traditional cleansers. If your skin does not tolerate foaming cleansers or washing with water, Cleansing Water is the answer to your cleansing needs.

As you can see, Cleansing Water is a versatile product that’s great to have in your arsenal, whether or not you follow the entire Korean skin care routine.

Have you tried Cleansing Water, or do you use an alternate to traditional face cleansers? Tell us about your experience in the comments!
